Just as we were preparing for Crufts after returning from New York, the US and Israel attacked Iran. In retaliation, Iran attacked US facilities throughout the Middle East. This resulted in various repercussions, including airspace blockades in the Middle East and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, affecting not only the countries directly involved but also surrounding nations and even the entire world.
One of those affected was our editor-in-chief. Initially, she was scheduled to fly to Birmingham via the route shown in the photo above, but ultimately changed her route and flew to London via Incheon, South Korea. From there, she took a bus to Birmingham. As a result of the flight reschedules, she could not make it on time. She arrived in Birmingham in the evening on the first day.
For the next World Dog Show, her flight to Bologna was via Dubai, so it had to be rescheduled again. Who knew that global affairs and dog shows were so closely intertwined... This is the first schedule change since the COVID-19 pandemic, and it's made us pay close attention to global news.
世界情勢とドッグショー

当時日本は、戦後の混乱の中で、徐々に新しい日本を作るために動き出していたころです。（１９５１年に日米安全保障条約締結）
つまり長い歴史を持つドッグショーのひとつであるということは、いうまでもありません。
しかも、６月のイギリスは天候もよく観光シーズンで、王室ゆかりの地でもあるウインザーは、世界から観光客が訪れます。
多くの出陳数が見込まれるこのショーは、今からとても楽しみです。
🔶取材を終えて
このショーに参加して感じたことは、大きなショーでありながら、主催者と出陳者がとても近い関係にあるということでした。主催者、審査員、スチュワード、そして出陳者の皆さまからとても暖かく迎えていただき、4日間はあっという間でとてもすばらしい体験でした。
宿泊は、パグのダグラス君がいるMaireさん宅に滞在しましたが、彼の癒しの効果もあり、とても快適に過ごせました。
来年も行けるように頑張りたいと思います！
